In person courses:
Trained instructors deliver the Breathe SMART Program in 12 hours spread over 4 days. The Breathe SMART program produces results from the very first session. For the full benefit of the training, participants are expected to commit to attend all sessions. The training is given in groups, with no maximum number of participants.

During the training, participants are instructed in a personal practice that can be used on a daily basis to further the benefits of the training. The UNIQUE aspect of the program, the powerful breathing technique, Sudarshan Kriya, is a rhythmic breathing technique that harmonises body, mind and emotions, with proven long term benefits. This can be supported through weekly follow-up sessions to reinforce the effects of the training.  By combining the instructor led course with the daily personal practice and weekly follow-up sessions, the benefits are sustainable in the long term.

The program teaches us to deal more constructively with often deep-rooted feelings which might be impacting our daily lives. These include fear, guilt, depression, despaire, revenge, and more. Feelings such as rage, aggression and frustration, instead make way for enthusiasm and a positive frame of mind. We have seen amongst thousands of participants, that Breathe SMART provides a basis for self-management, increases self-confidence, strengthens human values and reduces reliance on addictive substances. Moreover, it improves sleep, promotes greater accountability for ones own actions, and increases ones ability to resolve conflicts.

Whats more, a stable and continuous Breathe SMART practice can effectively influence change in those tired of repeating any internal destructive patterns and are motivated to transform their lives. 

Together, we learn skills to deal with future conflict and stressful situations successfully. The Breathe SMART program cuts through the cycle of destructive behaviours, trauma and violence as we become more conscious of the consequences of our actions, take responsibility, and search for the solutions to our problems within ourselves – rather than in the outside world. As such, the course becomes an opportunity for self-reflection and the program lays the foundation for genuine transformation, rehabilitation and reintegration into society. We can all make use of the knowledge and techniques taught during the training for the rest of our lives.

We have also found that those who graduate from our Prison SMART courses, and then join the Breathe SMART in the community, contribute to a more humane probation climate. The training of any individuals concerned can create a strong synergetic effect and support the long term benefits of the program.
